July 19th Report - NEW PICTURES ADDED

After a marathon session on Tuesday, everyone seems to be a bit worn out - those Thornfield fellas didn't get home till 1:30am.  Poor boys.  But what a show it was.  Mr Adam "damn bootlegger" Mustin tells me there was 15 different acts!  Including a strange Derren Brown type magician called Johnny Strud, Ross Clark from the superb My First Radio, singer songwriter Nicola Bretherton doing stuff on the piano, the mighty Thornfield, the quite brilliant Chris Warner from Spin and a drunk guy and his girlfriend known as Splinter Bungee and Ange the Pange.  Who everybody else was I can't remember but there's a good reason for that.  Adam may submit some form of report soon, and if he lets me, i'll post it here for one and all.

Anyway, Hairythorn Mustin is currently starting on the project which involves compiling a CD of the acts which have featured at the Brigstock and Kennedy's event as some form of promotional idea.  So if you're interested or have any ideas and want to contribute, then have a word with him, email me and i'll pass on it on, or leave messages in the FORUM

THIS MONTHS DAVE BOYFISH COMPETITION WINNER - MR ROSS CLARK!!!

The ever so exciting Geoff Bland brings his acoustic night once a month to Kennedy's so that crazy fools and pixies can show off their musical magical treats for one and all to behold.  Here is the ever so slightly compelling report from a Mr Adam Mustin who is Geoff's better looking assistant, from the first ever Kennedy's Acoustic Night.  It has been slightly edited for "correct name purposes" - you know who you are! Dont print it off and sell it on Ebay.

KENNEDY'S ONE - from the ashes of Brigstock...

Big slap on the back for Geoff for making contact with Garry Carr and consequently setting up the event with Julie and Tom at Kennedy's in Irthlingborough Road Finedon. (just up from the water tower building on the left).

A back room at least twice the size of Green Dragon Brigstock, comfortable seating, intimate atmosphere, a real stage!!!!!, and Geoff worked his magic once more to create top quality sound and lighting.

If anyone was wondering who the guy was taking photos, he's Martin Blunt - friend of Julie and Tom I gather - nice bloke - he's promised me a CD of the images next week... had sneak preview at the end of the evening and some excellent shots there!

First up were our Brigstock die-hards CRAZYTALK with Wake Up Call,
Dear Prudence, and Bounce Right Back. (I hate guitar tuners too Ian, it's the guitar tech's job really isn't it.........eh Geoff). The lion's hair may be shorter, but the Roddis still growls as I remember!! good to see u back comrades.
JAB played next - I have to confess I know little about these Kettering boys, except they're about twenty years younger than myself ( thirty younger than Geoff then, crikey!)...
No email contact so I couldn't enquire about their set list, although Mr. Garratt tells me a Nine Inch Nails track was played. Impressive set lads - hope we've given you a good platform for the future.
Next up, equally young STEVIE JONES for captivating solo performances of YOU ARE MY RELEASE, MILLION MILES and DIFFERENT WAY.. all from his forthcoming 12 track album set for probable Autumn release.
I'm told it features contributions from Titch Vango, Paul De Gallier, Mark Gill and Tim Harrison.
THORNFIELD returned reverb 'n' all; we were hoping to have a stab at some Coldplay and "Because of Toledo" from The Blue Nile's HIGH album, but I've not sussed all the chords out yet, so u were spared...for now... we have plenty of song material knocking around waiting to complete and hope to experiment with keyboards and drum programs soon, all in good time.
CHRIS WARNER solo slot next; taking a break from his current SPIN project - two songs of his own plus Embrace's "Gravity"; cheers Chris, good to see you again after so long mate!
ROSS CLARK - fresh from his band MY FIRST RADIO's Leicester Charlotte gig, and looking more Like Daniel Bedingfield than old Danny himself, though thankfully more tasteful in his repertoire as you would expect from Gretton's favourite son; playing wonderful solo versions of Damien Rice's Older Chests, Angel Cry (My First Radio) and Willy Mason's Oxygen. (I thought u said Willy Nelson Ross, ah well, never mind.... perhaps a grey wig and bandana next month?).
Excellent as always, and such a high voice too...... we should talk....

The night though belonged to the craziest act I've seen for some time, ladies and gentlemen...

pray silence...
